Welcome to Point Lobos Coaching

Hello. I’m a San Francisco-based personal/career coach with over 25 years managing teams ranging from 2 – 215 people in corporate and tech settings such as AT&T, Wells Fargo, and Workday, where I had full accountability for hiring, training, coaching, and advancing people in their careers

I bring a multidimensional, multicultural perspective informed by being born in Japan (I’m half-Asian), and living abroad in Spain. I speak pretty fluent Spanish and can communicate to some extent in French, Portuguese, and Japanese.

At times I am a Classroom teacher/Corporate Presenter, including speaking for the Positive Coaching Alliance, addressing coaches and parents on how to build healthy and affirming youth sports environments for all.

I have served as a Group Leader with the Shanti Project, providing emotional support and psychosocial peer support counseling to people with life-threatening illnesses and their loved ones.

Additionally, I am a seasoned professional soccer coach at the youth level, which is different from personal coaching, but I find there are useful overlaps in regards to elevating performance through guided discovery: reflection, questioning, and planning.

I coach and help people who want to:

• Improve people management skills
• Get or change jobs
• 50+ people in the “Third Act” of life, wanting to get clear on their next steps
•  Teams looking to smooth communications, make their conflict productive, and optimize their output
•  Make any change in their lives such as becoming more effective in your work, making more money, or finding balance and ease
• I intend to expand into the growing field of ADHD coaching in 2025.

If any of this interests you, reach out, and let’s talk.

Why Coaching?

“What we truly and earnestly aspire to be, that in some sense we are. The mere aspiration, by changing the frame of the mind, for the moment realizes itself. “
—ANNA JAMESON

Navigating life’s changes on your own can be challenging. Enlisting the support of a personal coach can be transformative. A personal coach offers clarity, guidance, and support through these critical periods. With active listening skills, your coach will ensure your thoughts and feelings are understood. They will ask thought-provoking questions that encourage self-discovery and strengthen your problem-solving skills.

Together, you will create customized action plans tailored to your strengths and goals. Next comes tackling specific challenges, establishing achievable objectives, and exploring growth opportunities that bring meaning to your life.

A coaching partnership can bring a renewed sense of direction, empowering you to embrace the future purposefully.

The benefits of working with a personal coach:

• Clarity on your values, goals, and priorities
• Enhanced self-awareness and presence
• Confidence in your decision-making and actions
• Increased resilience to overcome setbacks
• Practical tools for managing stress and building healthy habits
• A renewed sense of purpose and fulfillment in your life
• An actionable plan, with clear steps that lead to positive change

Why Point Lobos?

My practice is Point Lobos Coaching. If you’re not familiar, Point Lobos offers the last glimpse of the San Francisco skyline as seen from the Pacific, just beyond the Golden Gate Bridge. For me, Point Lobos symbolizes a pivotal moment in a life journey—when we leave the familiar behind and venture into the unknown.

And coaching is essentially about a journey one takes.

The safety and success of the undertaking depends on accurate navigation, Point Lobos is a beautiful landmark but it is also the site of hundreds of shipwrecks, like the famed City of Rio de Janeiro. In selecting this name I hope to remind myself of the beauty of nature, the promise of San Francisco, and the role of coaching to help others succeed.
